Introductory Dives – No Experience Necessary!

If you want to go beyond snorkeling this is your chance to explore the ocean from a new perspective. You and your instructor dive together in the lush Catalina kelp forests at Avalon's Marine Preserve.  If you want to try scuba diving, but never had the time to take a certification class, THIS DIVE IS FOR YOU!  Since 1964, this Marine Park has offered a safe, convenient, and amazing shore dive. Reservations are highly recommended as the instructor to student ratio is 1:2; 2 person discount rate available).  You must be 12 years or older, capable of swimming and be in excellent physical condition.  Many medical conditions must be cleared by a physician prior to diving, ask us for details.

Guided Snorkel Tours!

If you can swim you can snorkel! Float effortlessly on the water's surface under the guidance of our experienced Instructors.  Your tour includes mask/snorkel, fins, wetsuit and fish food (2 person minimum). This is an incredible opportunity to learn the proper usage of your snorkeling equipment, get face to face with fish, lobster, and other beautiful sea life while surrounding yourself in an inspiring kelp forest marine environment! Guided Scuba Tours!

Make the most of your time on the island, experience a majestic kelp forest shore dive under the guidance of a trained professional.  Our scuba tour Instructors know every detail of the Avalon Dive Park and will make your dive a memorable experience for novice and expert divers alike. Visit the wrecks, the mini-wall, or just relax and let the fish come to you- boat dives are also available.  We offer refresher dives for those who have not been submerged for a year or the full SCUBA Tune-Up program.  This is a great opportunity to improve your diving skills and knowledge base.

Our dive classes give you real ocean experience in the clear protected waters of Catalina Island.  Our Instructors are highly qualified, enthusiastic, and can be depended upon to maintain your safety and develop you diving skills to their full potential.  We make every dive a fun and enjoyable experience. Let us help you plan and achieve your diving goals.  All dives will be done from shore unless you choose to upgrade by booking a space on the Scuba Cat – all Catalina Divers' Supply students receive $10 off boat dives!

CERTIFICATION INFORMATION

We offer Open Water Certification through three of the major dive agencies. PADI, NAUI & SSI have a minimum 4 day course requiring about 4-8 training hours a day. So if you want to enjoy some free vacation time as well, you should plan on staying some extra days. This course includes all the scuba gear you will need, instruction, text workbook, and other materials (except 2 passport photos). No hidden costs! Upon receipt of your course fee deposit, we will send your instructional materials which you should read before your arrival.  If you have already started your certification process, we can complete your certification referral in as little as 2 days!

We suggest an initial investment in your personal equipment for the course i.e. mask & snorkel, fins, gloves, hood, & booties. We stock excellent equipment by Scuba Pro, Sherwood, U.S. Divers, Deep See, Atlan, Aqua Lung & many others; in addition, our prices are competitive and are often more reasonable than other stores. If you choose to purchase any equipment you will receive a course discount of 10% off the retail price.
